Toronto radionics practitioner Alexandra Villada-Gellman says she thinks of radionics as cleaning up the energetic field around the human body when it becomes dirty from weakness, doubts and pain that may lead to illness.
Villada-Gellman, 45, was born in Mexico, and her mother was a Yacqui Indian shaman and healer. She practises homeopathy and iridology, and also has about a dozen clients who come for regular radionics treatments.

One of these, Virginia Sherry, 75, is minister of a non-denominational church called Horizon House in Green River, east of Markham. Sherry believes radionics sessions sometimes help her deal with physical problems. After she broke her breastbone, she says, every breath hurt.
"I was breathing very shallowly," she says. "Now, after my radionics, I can take a full breath. It's amazing."
Sherry says she has been having radionics for 20 years, and likes it because it is not intrusive and has no side-effects. "It helps me with my energy," she adds. "I feel better after a radionics treatment."
Villada-Gellman discovered radionics during a difficult period in her own life. By the age of 32, she says, both her parents and her brother had died, she went through a divorce and lost her job, and her health suffered.
"My iridology teacher told me that my illnesses were from trauma and the only thing that would help me was radionics," she recalls. She had weekly sessions with Ashfield, and was impressed enough with the results that she then trained with him to be able to offer radionics to her own clients for $54 an hour.
Some people have a radionics treatment and don't feel anything. Others sense a shift or change of some sort.
"I believe it works for everyone, but some people aren't aware of any change it makes," says Villada-Gellman. "Others rave about it. Radionics isn't always gentle it can bring up what we have suppressed. It can make anxiety worse or raise negative thoughts in the process of cleaning them all out."
